Preferred Lawn Care prepared this spring start-up guide from Hunter Industries to help ensure your Hunter system is up and running with ease and efficiency. Here is what you can do:
STEP 1
Start by opening the system’s main water valve to let the pipes be filled with water gradually. When these valves are opened prematurely, sprinkler main lines are exposed to high surge pressures, unregulated flow, and water hammer, all of which may cause them to fracture or break.
STEP 2
Check that each station valve is operating properly by manually activating all zones on the controller.
STEP 3
- Conduct a walk-through of each station on the controller, ensuring that the zone is operating properly.
- Examine the system for correct operating pressure (low pressure signals a line break or a missing sprinkler), sprinkler head rotation and adjustment, and enough coverage.
- Inspect and clean filters on sprinklers that are not operating well. Adjust heads as required to get the desired grade.
